Water jet cutting explained
Water jet cutting is a process of fast manufacturing of many different materials. A special pump compresses water up to 60000 psi and higher which is then released into a very small channel, passing the orifice and exiting the nozzle which can be directed into any angle and position before the water jet hits the surface of the workpiece and starts to penetrate it. Usually, depending on the production, a mixing chamber is added where a garnet, i.e. very fine sand of a pre-selected mesh, is added to the water flow. The mixture of water and sand particles erodes the workpiece at a very high speed, thus to say it cuts its way through the material.
